Blackjack Payout Calculator

Calculate 3:2, 6:5 or 2:1 blackjack payouts for any bet. See your net winnings and the total returned including your stake, then compare 3:2 vs 6:5 blackjack.

Net winnings exclude the returned stake. Total returned includes it. Casino chip rounding and house minimums can differ.

Know the payout. Test the math.

Net winnings are your profit; total returned includes your original stake. Practice the difference with the payout quiz below.

Blackjack payout chart: 3:2 vs 6:5

Example: a $25 natural blackjack at 3:2 wins $37.50 ($25 × 3 ÷ 2). Add your $25 stake for $62.50 total returned. At 6:5, the same bet wins $30 and returns $55 in total. The chart below lists net winnings, not the total returned.

The 3 to 2 and 6 to 5 payouts dealers memorize — every common bet, both rules side by side. A 3:2 blackjack pays you half the bet again; a 6:5 blackjack pays less on each winning natural blackjack, which is the whole reason to avoid those tables. New to the table? How to bet in blackjack covers chips, minimums, and where the bet goes.

The mental shortcut for 3:2: half the bet, plus the bet. $15 → half is $7.50 → payout $22.50. For 6:5, divide the bet by 5 and pay 6 of them — which is why 6:5 tables prefer bets in $5 steps and round down (against you) on odd amounts at many houses.

Reading a chart is one thing — calling the payout in two seconds with a full table watching is another. This is the drill: 20 questions across 3:2, 6:5, insurance, doubles and even-money wins, scored for speed and accuracy. Turn on dealer mode for a 10-second clock per answer.

Type the dollar amount and press enter. Cents count.

A practice tool, not a table aid — casinos don't allow phones in the game. The point is to make the arithmetic automatic before you sit down.

Free blackjack payout instructor kit

A simple lesson sequence

  1. Explain net versus returned money (4 minutes). A $10 natural blackjack at 3:2 wins $15 and returns $25 including the original stake.
  2. Demonstrate doubles, pushes and surrender (2 minutes). A winning $10 double commits $20, wins $20 net and returns $40. A push has zero net profit.
  3. Complete form A (5 minutes). Start untimed and ask for both net result and total returned.
  4. Review mistakes (4 minutes). Score one point per correct column, out of 40. Separate ratio mistakes from forgetting the original or extra stake.
  5. Try form B, then practice online (5 minutes). Use new amounts to check understanding before adding speed pressure.

Every payout at the table

Payouts are fixed arithmetic — what a hand is actually worth is the harder question. Our blackjack odds calculator takes any two cards against any dealer up-card and gives the modeled win probability and expected value of hitting, standing, doubling or splitting. No betting system changes any number on this page — the schedule is identical at $5 and $500 — and how to win at blackjack ranks the four things that actually move your odds.

Does blackjack pay 2 to 1?

Usually a natural blackjack pays 3:2 or 6:5, but some promotional rules pay 2:1. Insurance is a separate wager that also pays 2:1 when the dealer has blackjack. Check the posted rules to see which wager and payout apply. Select 2:1 above to calculate a promotional payout. Wizard of Odds lists 2:1 blackjack and suited-blackjack variations; these are distinct from insurance.

Payouts are arithmetic. Decisions are profit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a blackjack pay on a $20 bet?

At a 3:2 table, a $20 blackjack pays $30 in winnings (you keep your $20 bet and receive $30 more). At a 6:5 table the same blackjack pays only $24. That $6 gap, about once every 21 hands, is why 6:5 adds roughly 1.4% to the house edge.

How do you calculate a 3:2 blackjack payout?

Divide the bet by 2 and multiply by 3 — or just add half the bet to itself. A $15 bet: half is $7.50, so the payout is $15 + $7.50 = $22.50. The chart dealers memorize: $5→$7.50, $10→$15, $15→$22.50, $25→$37.50, $50→$75, $100→$150.

What is a 6:5 blackjack payout?

A 6:5 table pays $6 for every $5 you bet on a blackjack, instead of the standard 3:2 ($3 for every $2). On a $25 bet that's $30 at 6:5 versus $37.50 at 3:2 — you lose $7.50 per blackjack. Avoid 6:5 tables whenever a 3:2 game is available.

Does blackjack ever pay 2 to 1?

Usually a natural blackjack pays 3:2 or 6:5, but some promotional rules pay 2:1. Insurance is a separate wager that also pays 2:1 when the dealer has blackjack. Check the posted rules to see which wager and payout apply.

How do dealers practice blackjack payouts?

By drilling the arithmetic until it's automatic — mostly the 3:2 shortcut (half the bet, plus the bet) and the 6:5 conversion (divide by 5, pay 6). Dealer schools use timed, flashcard-style repetition on random bet amounts, including the odd ones like $35 and $45 where the half-dollar trips people up. The payout practice quiz above does the same: 20 randomized questions, scored for speed and accuracy, with a 10-second dealer mode.
